A member benefits being a part of the industry association in the form of opportunities, knowledge, and networking.
PURPOSE:
“We aim for the betterment of the Indian composite industry, there is a need to closely work with industry players, raw material suppliers, innovators, government agencies, foreign partners, and end-users. This Composite Association will provide a greater platform to all the associated people to bring along at one place.”
With a single aim to benefit the different stakeholders of the Indian Composite Industry, and to be that critical interface between prototype concept and testing to expand and grow together, Composites Association has recently set up its base in Ahmedabad, Gujarat!
With approximately 50% of the composite market-based in western India, there couldn’t be a more strategic location for the headquarter of this association than Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
The Composites Association intends to reach out to the diverse base of composite manufacturers, raw material producers, small industry associations, government agencies, and academicians to come together on this platform and mutually collaborate and expand the presence of this vertical in the ever-dynamic industrial field!
1. The prime objective of the association will be transcending and enabling the sharpening of the Indian Composite industry. The association will focus on building capacities, knowledge base of the domestic stakeholders by bringing in subject matter experts & super specialists having knowledge of raw material, academics, and research perspectives on its board.
2. The association is keen to work on the standardization process of the CompositeIndustry stakeholders along with Bureau of Indian Standards(BIS)”.
3. The Composite Association aims to cross over geographical boundaries and collectively work with other associations in US, Europe, and Asia, thereby widening the horizons for its members. This collaboration would also enhance the knowledge base with sharing of International standards and best practices updates/ safety trends in the market.
Renewable energy targets set by Indian Govt & global drive towards sustainable growth, climate change factors will drive the wind energy market in India. Economically viable futuristic energy storage options like hydrogen &other energy storage options will continue to drive the industry sector. The untapped off-shore wind Energy has good potential for growth
The Govt of India initiatives such as e-vehicle policy and strict emission norms will shift the focus towards light-weighting and composites will play a major role. Fuel-saving will be an added advantage. The sudden surge in demand for high volume faster production may suit thermoplastic composites. However, higher initial cost of composites&limited mass production capability are some of the areas that need to be reviewed critically.
Growing power needs with increasing middle income group in India will drive the sector as many electrical items are needed.Combination of insulation, corrosion resistance, low thermal expansion co-efficient, make it as an ideal choice. The numberof players in this sector are also quite substantial.
Durability especially for water resistance applications and also in high raising buildings, the light weighting will be a driving factor for composites. It is a great substitute for wood and also materials waste is minimized. Awareness of these products need to be spread and shared in the world of Architects and Designers to enhance usage.
Many composites products have proven performance record in many power plant applications including water intake pipe lines, cooling towers etc and these factors will continue to drive the market. Composites Industry needs to win the confidence of the endusers especially create a niche demand within government projects and PSU.
Composites in the chemical sector has been growing steadily over the years. The chemical resistance and ease of formation of complex shapes, easy installation, coupled with mechanical strength and durability has made it an ideal choice of material over many others, especially for the pharma and chemical industries.
Composites have become increasingly important to the Aerospace and Defense (A&D) industry. Incorporating best practices of leveraging the engineering composite model into manufacturing, planning, and automation processes, manufacturers will be better equipped to produce with a focus on quantity without compromising on quality.
Digital India initiatives and growing data usage and IT infrastructures is creating a huge demand for composites in the telecommunication sector. Increased usage and demand of fibre optical applications is one of the major growth areas.
